Winona Area Public Schools 1:1 Learning Initiative

TL21 - Transforming Learning for the 21st Century

TL21 stands for “Transforming Learning for the 21st Century”.  It is based on a belief in the unique power of technology to enhance our core mission and boost learning opportunities for our students. In the current century, faculty and students are leveraging new tools and teaching methods to help achieve our goals for every graduate to be effective communicators, critical thinkers and problem solvers, engaged and ethical citizens, curious and creative, and balanced and resilient.  Today’s generation of students view technology as a part of their everyday environment. To appropriately meet their needs, technology should be pervasive – always available.

The Winona Area Public Schools is engaging in an initiative to transform learning and teaching for our students. 1:1 is shorthand for one-to-one. This means there will be one technology learning device for each student to use for learning at both school and home. The 1:1 learning initiative will promote student engagement and enthusiasm for learning through interactive opportunities and collaboration. In the hands of students and teachers, individual access to technology will set in motion new modes of understanding of the world around us, of accessing information instantaneously, and of connecting with others.
