Friday, May 5th Winona Area Public Schools 6th grade students attended Law Day. The Winona County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council puts on this days event. Each student
has five stations that they rotate through including court administration with a visit with a judge, the defense attorney, restorative justice, probation office, county attorney Karin Sonneman and a mock trial in a courtroom. Leading up to Law Day the student’s social studies unit focus has been on Juvenile Justice Standards. They have participated in many activities that correspond with this three-week unit including a video about the Winona County Jail. The students enjoyed Law Day and the opportunity to meet Winona County Criminal Justice members.
